Milo Murphy's Law Wiki

So I wanted to talk a little more about "Going the Extra Milo", because yesterday's review was good, but not deep enough. I want to explain more about why I think this episode is great.

So, "Going the Extra Milo" is the pilot. Pilots are a strange thing. In a comedic series, they mostly introduce elements, in dramas, they start up the story. They're important, but many times, you'll see that the pilot is unliked compared to other episodes. But not in this case.

"Going the Extra Milo" introduces to us Zack, the one and only Milo Murphy, the idea of Murphy's law, Bradley, Melissa, Milo and Melissa's friendship, Diogee and "Diogee go home". And it only takes them 2 minutes and 27 seconds!

The rest of the episode keeps this going. We get a ton of great gags (my personal favorite is the coyote woods bit and the wolf with a bee nest on it's head), Melissa helping Milo and Zack get lunch, Milo going through the sewers, Diogee saving Milo, Milo's Dad's sayings and even aliens. And never does it feel slow. Re watch it: It's the same pace as the others.

Of course, the standout of the episode besides it's humor and creativity is character. Milo, Zack and Melissa are all introduced perfectly, telling us who they basically are and why we should love them. And clearly it worked. Milo's positivity has touched our hearts. An this is where that begins. Sure, we don't have the complex plot lines of the later episodes, but it didn't need one. It just needed to bring us in.

And it did.

So, yeah, I love this episode, but I don't think it will be in my top ten when I finish this. But I still absolutely love it.
